Winter Wilderness Survival

Do you have the right gear and skills to brave the cold? What are the right life-saving tools and equipment to carry?
Join the winter version of our Modern Survival Crash Course, and work with professional survival instructor Tim MacWelch to discover what to take into the woods and how to use that gear to your best advantage. This action packed course will coach you through the best modern wilderness skills and practices for any type of survival situation - with a special focus on the hazards and injuries common to the coldest season.

Topics of instruction will include: The Priorities of survival; What to put in a survival kit; Fire making strategies with numerous devices, including spark rods, magnesium, optics, electricity and more; Modern water purification techniques and supplies; Easy ways to signal for help; and how to build shelters from tarps, ropes and other modern materials. Take this course and you'll also get a copy of our survival manual to take home for further study. No experience is necessary to join our crash course. With this carefully built curriculum, you can build your foundation for survival in just one day. You can become a survivor.

This course is held near Stafford, VA. Course tuition $127

The 2019 date is Sunday February 24th from 9 am to 4 pm.

Course Location: Near Stafford, Va. Detailed directions are emailed upon enrollment.

Required Equipment: Bag lunch and drinks for yourself, appropriate clothing and wet weather gear for the expected weather, a pocket knife (any kind), a tarp (6x8, 8x10 or some similar size), 100 feet of cord (paracord is fine), and a pen to take notes.

Recommended Equipment: Some seating is available at camp, but please bring a camp chair if you have one.
